It’s all happening at Parklands this week… World Book Week and The Great Parklands Bake Off.
We were blown away again this year by the high standard of the entries to our 2018 Bake Off.
Over the weekend, many children and their families spent quality time together getting ready for the bake off, making cakes, buns and biscuits, getting out piping bags, rolling fondant icing and melting chocolate.
The results were amazing, we have some very talented bakers at Parklands, their bakes tasted amazing, looked amazing and showed an enormous amount of creativity. The school council had the tough job of judging this year’s event and it wasn’t an easy task to pick out the winners, there was lots of intense discussion and many rounds of voting.
Whether you won a gold or silver spoon or not, you can rest assured that your cakes, buns and biscuits were something to be proud of.
As it is book week we had a special book themed category and the entries were fantastic. Cakes included Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory complete with chocolate river, a Bake Off book cake, Secret Garden cupcakes, Harry Potter, many Hungry Caterpillar cakes, a Gruffalo, The Little Mermaid and a Bruce Bogtrotter cake from Matilda. Star Bakers were Evie Fletcher in Reception, Kaiden Campbell in KS1, Jessy-Leigh in KS2, Skye Kite (parent) and Mrs Oates (staff) with Kacie Robinson crowned as Best Book cake Star Baker.
