This week has been Anti-bullying and E-safety week at Parklands.
On Tuesday, Years 4, 5 & 6 took part in anti-bullying workshops with James from Openview Education, They learnt about the importance of showing courage and standing up to bullies. They were given ideas of ways in which they can show confidence and stand up for themselves or others using confident body language and sentences of strength.
All the children watched online anti-bullying shows in their classrooms . In Years 1 – 4 the theme was using courage and kindness to make the school a better place. Year 5 &6’s theme considered how banter and a joke can become bullying.
Years 3,4,&5 used the Anti-bullying lesson on Now press play. The themes covered in the story were what bullying is and how to recognise it. It also considered reasons why a child might bully others as well as what to do if you witness bullying.
Activities carried out in the classroom included –
Y1 designed odd socks after discussing that it’s good to be different.
Y2 wrote a recipe for a good friend as well as thinking of acts of kindness.
Y6 discussed what we can do to stop bullying happening in our school and made a mind map about how to be kind to each other.
In Reception, the children learnt about using the’ Stop Sign’ in their anti-bullying lesson.
