World Book Day 2019

World Book Day 2019

On World Book Day, our school was filled with characters from all of our favourite stories. Well done to all the children and staff at Parklands for your amazing efforts! In assembly, we listened to an alternative version of the popular story Little Red Riding Hood. The story was called Little Red. In this version, Little Red Riding Hood is extremely brave and manages to defeat the evil wolf. We all loved the story! After that, we were all given clues by Miss Huby and had to guess who the characters were from famous novels. One of the characters is extravagant, wears purple, loves chocolate and owns a factory. Can you guess the name of the character?

During the day, we celebrated the novels and picture books that we have been studying in class. Reception tasted fruit from The Hungry Caterpillar and created their own versions of the story. Year 4, redesigned the cover of their novel The Firework Maker’s Daughter and Year 5 created some Narnia inspired art work. We all had a great day celebrating our favourite books and authors. Please take a look at our photos of World Book Day 2019.
