Year 4 arrived to school in the rain, ready for an action packed two days. Who’d have thought the children would be soaked before we even set off! The rain didn’t dampen their spirits though, as smiles and excitement filled the coach on our way to Yorkshire Camps near Grassington.
The scenery as we travelled was beautiful – the children loved seeing the changing landscape and the animals out of the window.
We arrived at Yorkshire Camps to be greeted by a wonderfully enthusiastic team of leaders, and we were led to Netherside Hall – a huge Georgian house built in the 1800s. The children were screaming and shouting with excitement as we got closer and they were told it would be their home for the next two days.
After a welcome meeting and refreshments, we had our first meeting time, considering all the different stories the children could remember from the Bible. The children played an inside game in the grand hall before lunch and then it was time for our first activity! The children were split into 4 groups that rotated over the two days. Every child was able to participate in archery, go karts, ropes course and den building. We hope you enjoy the photos! The food in the evening was amazing, and we are so thankful to all the team at Yorkshire Camps for making every child so welcome. Their conversations over dinner were super and the children were incredibly polite and well behaved.
In the evening, we had a HUGE bonfire, sang silly songs and drank hot chocolate. The fire lit up the children’s beaming faces as they spent time chatting with their friends before heading to bed.
The following morning, the children had another story time, before heading out for their final two activities.
After packing up their bags, we said our farewells and thank-yous before heading back to school on the coach (which was a lot quieter than our trip there!)
A big thank you for letting us give your children this opportunity, and we hope you enjoy looking through the photos!
